SUP, NEW HAVEN?
New Haven is a small city in Connecticut known for Yale University and the world's best pizza.
Sup New Haven was founded in June 2020, with dual mission to support New Haven businesses while also showing people the best local spots.
As a smaller city where social media isn't relied on as much as word of mouth, I was curious if a page like this would take off or gather little interest.
In the first 6 months, Sup New Haven gained 1,000 new organic followers each month, proving the concept, and providing a helpful community platform for residents of New Haven, CT
Grew organically to 6k followers in the first 6 months & 12k+ currently
Hosted many giveaways with hundreds of entries each
Created a website to keep followers engaged beyond IG
Built an engaged community of locals

If you haven't been to THIS new restaurant yet, 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒄𝒌 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓? 👇🏽
El Segundo is definitely one of my favorite new spots - not just because of the variety of street food from all over the world 🌏, but also because of the cool industrial style & floor-to-ceiling art.
They really thought of everything to give this place the most chill vibes from the string lights, to street signs, to graffiti spray paint, even on the COVID-friendly table dividers!
Here's what we had:
🍹Drinks
Best Bloody Ever: Ancient Chinese secret recipe
Kale Agua Fresca: American vodka, pressed kale, apple, cucumber, fresh squeezed lemon
🌮 Apps
Al Pastor Tacos: carved marinated pork with grilled pineapple, cilantro, onions, arbol sauce on a corn tortilla
Summer Roll: rice paper wrapped tuna, cucumver, carrot and daikon with a spicy soy mayo dipping sauce
🍳Mains
Korean Crepe: Scallion pancakes, scrambled eggs, shiitake mushrooms, garlic-ginger soy sauce
Tortilla Española: Potato & onion "omelet," chive sour cream
Fried Noodles: Shrimp, green onions, carrots, chili paste, soy sauce
🍦Dessert
French Connection: French press Café Bustelo, Tempus Fugit dark creme de cacao, Trader Vic's Kona coffee liqueur, whipped cream & toasted marshmallows
Fun fact: El Segundo was named after a song by A Tribe Called Quest - does anyone know what it is? 🎶 (check out our story to hear it)
